    Soccer Legend Abby Wambach Coming to Missouri on October 14th to Meet and Play Soccer with Missouri Youth Soccer Players

    St. Peters, MO – Missouri’s young soccer players have a new friend, soccer legend Abby Wambach, a five-time winner of the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year award and Olympic Gold Medalist. Ms. Wambach, along with Missouri Youth Soccer Association, has launched an innovative and fun fundraiser to benefit Missouri Youth Soccer based SPENSA program. Players who raise $250 will meet and have lunch, with a guest, with the soccer legend herself at the Missouri fundraiser’s celebration, the Soccer Showcase with Abby Wambach. Abby Wambach said, “I’m thrilled to team up with Missouri Youth Soccer Association to raise both money and awareness for SPENSA. I can’t wait to meet the young soccer players of Missouri on October 14th!”

    Players raising $250 will, with a guest, have lunch with; ask questions to AND EVEN PLAY IN A SOCCER GAME with soccer legend Abby Wambach. The top 64 overall fundraisers will participate in a soccer game with Abby.

    The event with Abby Wambach takes place Sunday, October 14. Jake Griesenauer, Executive Director of Missouri Youth Soccer Association, says, “We are very excited to introduce Abby Wambach to soccer’s future stars growing up right here in Missouri. We are also thrilled to partner with her to generate funds and increase awareness for SPENSA. This is teamwork at its best!”

    During the fundraising campaign, as players collect donations they will receive, at the:

    • $150 level: A flexible wrist band engraved with Abby Wambach’s “Play Hard, Play Fair” message.
    • $200 level: A commemorative event poster and an event T-shirt.
    • $250 level: An invitation to attend, with a parent or guardian, the Soccer Showcase featuring Abby Wambach including lunch with Abby, pictures and autographs followed by a Q&A and then a soccer game with the top 64 fundraisers and Abby!

    The top 10 overall fundraisers will sit with Abby during lunch at the head table. The top 2 overall fundraisers will sit next to Abby at lunch. The top 64 overall fundraisers will play in a soccer game with Abby after lunch!

    About Missouri Youth Soccer:

    The purpose of this Association shall be to promote, foster and perpetuate the game of soccer for youth in the state of Missouri.

    This Association shall provide an equal opportunity to athletes, coaches, trainers, managers, administrators and officials to participate in youth soccer competition.

    About SPENSA Program:

    SPENSA is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl of ages 5-21 who has a mental or physical disability. It is our hope over the next few years to enable hundreds of St. Louis area young people the opportunity to become a valued and successful member of the St. Louis soccer community.

    SPENSA is free of charge to all of these special children. The program is funded through the generous donations of individuals and corporations.

Your team’s game time coming soon!

Meet Abby Wambach

First you must register online.  When you register you will create a personal fundraising page.  Email your fundraising page to family and friends to get donations.  Every player who raises $250 will be invited, with one guest, to meet world soccer legend Abby Wambach on Saturday, October 14 in Missouri.  Lunch includes pictures and autographs followed by a Q&A.  The top 64 fundraisers will PLAY SOCCER WITH ABBY WAMBACH following lunch!  Fundraising ends October 11th at 11:59 pm EST.
